Dreamy Sunset Couples Photos by the Golden Gate Bridge at Cavallo Point

There’s something about the Golden Gate Bridge at sunset that never gets old. For this Cavallo Point couples session, we photographed along the waterfront as the evening light softened over the bay, creating a mix of romantic portraits, playful moments, and some of my favorite images to date.

A Sunset Couples Session at Cavallo Point

Cavallo Point is one of those locations that gives you so much variety without having to go far. With views of the Golden Gate Bridge, the marina, boats along the waterfront, and the surrounding hills, there are plenty of beautiful backdrops while still keeping the focus on the couple.

We started near the marina and wandered along the bay as the sun began to set. Rather than staying in one place or working through a long list of poses, we kept things moving. Walking along the water, playing games, laughing together, and taking a few quieter moments gave the session a natural rhythm and created photographs that feel both candid and intentional.

That balance is always what I’m looking for when photographing couples. I love documenting the moments that happen naturally, but I’ll also step in with direction when it helps create a stronger photograph. The result is a gallery that feels relaxed and genuine while still having an elevated, editorial quality.

Golden Gate Bridge Couples Photos at Sunset

As the light changed, the Golden Gate Bridge became an even more dramatic backdrop. Some of my favorite photographs from this session came from simply letting the couple walk, embrace, and interact with each other while the sunset and surrounding landscape did the rest.

Cavallo Point is especially beautiful for couples who want iconic Bay Area scenery without their entire session feeling centered around a landmark. The Golden Gate Bridge is unmistakable, but the waterfront, marina, and soft evening light give the gallery a romantic and timeless feel all its own.

For couples looking for engagement photos, anniversary portraits, or simply an excuse to document this season together, a sunset session near the Golden Gate Bridge offers the perfect mix of scenery and intimacy.

As a Bay Area wedding and couples photographer, my approach blends candid moments with thoughtful direction to create photographs that feel natural, refined, and true to you. If you’re dreaming of your own Cavallo Point couples session or photos somewhere along the Bay Area coast, I’d love to create something that feels completely your own.
